Do you remember cassette tapes when you were young? If that’s going too far back, let me explain. A leader was the part of the tape you couldn’t record on—you had to fast forward to the brown part before you could record your favorite songs off the radio or from a record. Cloth leaders for quilting work the same way. They’re the part your machine can’t reach, and they give you extra fabric to attach to the frame so you can quilt right to the edge without needing a ton of extra backing.

These leaders are made so you can pin your quilt to them, and they’re attached to the frame rail. This set is 136” long, made for 12-foot frames with 144” frame rails. Make sure to center the leaders on the frame rails to get the best results. It’s a good idea to mark the center of the leader so you can easily match it up with the center of your quilt when pinning it on.

These leaders also come with a Velcro attachment kit to secure them to the frame rails.
